Dr. Ebi Kalahi Kimanani was an active member of our Beaurepaire community in the west island of Montreal. With her wonderful presence and engaging manner, Ebi involved those around her in projects to benefit her Kenyan homeland. She grew up in Itegero, Kenya and worked through her local church and community, to assist her homeland.
Ebi, a statistician, biomedical research consultant was involved in establishing ethical clinical trials for vaccines to combat malaria and AIDS in Kenya and Uganda.Tragically, Ebi succumbed from malaria in Feb. 2005. We honour her memory with our efforts to provide assistance to her childhood community.
We welcome volunteers who would like to join us and help with fundraising events, processing books, planning projects, sorting donations or working on various teams or committees needed to make these projects possible. Please contact suitcasesforafrica@yahoo.ca for more information.
Please note we are not currently accepting any items for shipment as we have sufficient donated items for our present needs. However, we are continuing with fundraisingevents to help defray shipping costs.
Fundraising will also help support our ongoing projects, to feed orphans, put in clean wells for the schools and orphanages, equip libraries and help fund mandatory school uniforms, text books and educational costs for orphaned and disabled children.
Please join us in this work by holding your own fundraising activity on behalf of the children, such as garage sales, tournaments, dinners, or school projects.
For these activities we are happy to help raise awareness through slides, videos and presentations to groups.
